John Hersant

John of Bell Meadow, Bickleigh, died at home on January 5th 2018. He and wife Irene were well known and loved and enjoyed Bickleigh life. John loved flowers and was founding Chairman of Bickleigh Gardening Club, worked hard for the Village Hall and was a natural on stage, often in partnership with his great friend, Dick Ridd. Their very funny version of the "Four Candles" sketch will long remain a classic. I also remember John on stage as the Sergeant Major in a World War medley of songs when he showed prowess in marching on Bickleigh stage, learnt and not forgotten from his military days.

We send our sympathy to Irene and daughter, Myra. We understand  a "Celebration" of his life will be held in Bickleigh Church on Saturday February 3rd 2018.
