Planning Decision

Mid Devon Council Planning Committee recently refused planning permission for 7 houses and a football pitch on land adjacent to Highfields. The main grounds being the need to preserve and enhance the character of the Conservation area and the likely increase in pedestrian traffic on a highway lacking adequate footways.

Derek Harrison, Chairman of the Parish Council, and Robert Hay from Bickleigh Castle spoke against the plans. A site visit had been arranged the day before and whereas 2 councillors supported the application, the remainder voted against.

The applicant has now asked for the application to be withdrawn.
