CELEBRATE THE CORONATION ON SUNDAY MAY 7TH 2023 ALL WELCOME
On the 12th of May 1937 Bickleigh people planted a Coronation tree on the green triangle for the new King George V1. Not sure where the ladies were but the men all dressed in their Sunday best posed proudly for the camera. The village carpenter and undertaker, Arthur Gold, had made a wooden seat to surround the tree, an ideal spot to rest awhile having climbed the hill!
In May 2023 our local community will be celebrating his Grandson’s Coronation.
At 11am on Sunday May 7th a Coronation service will be held in St Mary’s Church, Bickleigh.
From 1pm a Bring and share lunch will be held in the Village Hall. Please bring a hot or cold dish to share. The Parish Council will provide drinks.
At 2.30pm a Fun Wheelbarrow Push will be held in Joan’s Orchard under the direction of Christine Harris. Please clean up your barrows, decorate them in celebratory style and be willing to push them around a slalom course. Each barrow needs a passenger wearing a crown. Should be lots of fun participating and watching!
